Do you know anyone else or of anyone else who does something that you admire or something you would like to do? It might be their presentation skills, or confidence, or their ability to handle conflict well or to let things go. If you could gain some skills from someone else, what would you want to develop?
NLP was founded and is based on modelling. Modelling is the ability to identify the external behaviours and internal mindset that someone uses to achieve a result. When you model someone, you are able to learn from them and take on some of their perception, beliefs, mindset, unconscious filters, behaviours and more – but you only need to adopt what fits for you.
For example, a few years ago we modelled a successful Coach who had a very successful and busy coaching practice. We wanted to model some of what he was doing so we could teach it to others, but there was something we didn’t want to model – his ego and arrogance. Luckily, NLP will help you to identify the ingredients a person uses to reach success and helps you to create your own unique recipe.
Once you learn NLP and have the skills of modelling, we would invite you to keep your eyes open for people who you can model – they are all around you. And, a benefit for looking for what you want to model in others – this will set you in growth mode and help you look for the best in others!
