Your beautiful unconscious mind is a very creative being indeed. When we start to talk to people about creative, we are often told “oh, no! I’m not creative. I can’t draw or anything”. Being creative doesn’t have anything to do with artistic abilities – it is about being able to see outside the square, read between the lines, solve problems, know which shoes go with your outfit and how to be flexible in different situations.
Innately, everyone is creative – how much creativity you display to the world depends greatly on your beliefs and values. If it is important to get things right, be perfect and have answers – you will be less likely to be as creative as you might be. If you fear failure, dislike criticism or if you need the approval of others, again, you may lack some creative flair.
However, creativity lives within you. Look at children for this – most kids are able to imagine and be creative without the fears or limitations holding them back and getting in their way. At some point however, we develop inhibitions and start to care what others think, we start to care if we’re doing something right and our creative juices start to dry up.
Does it have to be that way? Nope, not at all! With NLP you can change beliefs, realign values and step back into you creative self – without limits and without hesitation; or as much limits and hesitation as you desire to live with. In fact, if you don’t believe that you have ever been creative, you can use NLP to model someone else who is creative, and create that for yourself.
At the end of the day, you are in charge of your mind – you might as well be in charge of your creativity too!
